Vercel

We host a lot of projects on our own Vercel Enterprise account, deploying directly from GitHub.

Log drains to Betterstack are configured automatically for every project — no manual setup needed.

Observability Plus should be switched off by default for new projects. Only enable it temporarily:

  • When releasing a project, to catch issues during rollout.
  • When auditing a project’s performance or errors.

Turn it back off once the release or audit is done — leaving it on by default across all projects adds cost without ongoing value.

  • Mark any credential, API key, or other sensitive value as a secret (not a plain environment variable) so it isn’t readable by everyone with project access.
  • Follow the general secrets management guidelines for how these values should be sourced, rotated, and handled if they leak.
  • Scope environment variables to the environments that need them (Production / Preview / Development) rather than exposing them everywhere by default.
